Play Therapy Consultation
Play therapy consultation offers clinicians a relational and reflective space to deepen clinical thinking, strengthen therapeutic presence, and explore how children communicate through play, image, movement, metaphor, and relationship.
Whether you are pursuing the Registered Play Therapist™ credential or seeking continued professional growth, consultation can help you develop greater confidence and intentionality in your work with children, adolescents, caregivers, and families.
Our approach may incorporate the Oaklander model and other experiential play therapy practices, as well as sandtray, art, puppets, sensory materials, and expressive interventions. Consultation may also explore the integration of play therapy with trauma-informed care, attachment-based approaches, and EMDR therapy.
Credentialing supervision is provided by qualified Registered Play Therapist-Supervisors™ and will be clearly identified. Clinicians pursuing the RPT™ credential are encouraged to confirm current Association for Play Therapy requirements.
Individual and small group options are available for both ongoing professional development and credential focused support.
Individual
Individual play therapy supervision is offered for clinicians working toward Registered Play Therapist (RPT) credentialing under the supervision of Waldo R. Winborn, LPCC, RPT-S, RST C/T.
This supervision provides a supportive, reflective space to deepen clinical skills in play therapy while meeting Association for Play Therapy (APT) supervision requirements. Supervision focuses on case conceptualization, ethical play therapy practice, use of self in the therapeutic relationship, and integration of play therapy theory into real clinical work.
Sessions are collaborative and developmentally responsive, with attention to the therapist’s growth, clinical confidence, and attunement to children and families. Supervision is tailored to your setting and population and may include discussion of play themes, therapeutic presence, documentation, and preparation for credentialing milestones.
Individual supervision is ideal for clinicians seeking focused guidance, personalized feedback, and intentional professional development as they work toward RPT credentialing.
Group
Group play therapy supervision is offered for clinicians pursuing the Registered Play Therapist (RPT) credential and is facilitated by Waldo R. Winborn, LPCC, RPT-S.
This format provides a relational and collegial learning environment where clinicians can grow alongside peers while meeting APT supervision requirements. Group supervision emphasizes shared learning, reflective discussion, and thoughtful exploration of play therapy cases, theory, and clinical decision-making.
Participants benefit from multiple perspectives while developing confidence in play therapy skills, case conceptualization, ethical practice, and use of self. Groups are structured to support safety, respect, and meaningful dialogue, with attention to the developmental stage of each supervisee.
Group supervision is well suited for clinicians who value community, collaborative learning, and witnessing the growth of others while progressing toward RPT credentialing.
